Who we are
We are a dedicated passionate group of birth advocates with over a 20 year long history of working with women and their families to deliver support and information on navigating the Irish Maternity Services before, during and after pregnancy labour and birth.
We also have a long track record of engaging with and working with the HSE, the Department of Health and HIQA with a common goal of improving maternity services in Ireland.
Where services have been lacking, or where clear improvements could benefit women and their families we have campaigned and lobbied for change and were all key campaigners in the Repeal the 8th Campaign and also in lobbying for the publication of monthly figures from all maternity units in Ireland.
Our core team includes two lactation consultants, community and participatory development specialists, University trained researchers and academics, ethnic minority and diversity trainers, doulas and advocacy campaigners.
We have all featured heavily in representative functions over the last 20 years, representing service users on local regional national and international fora. We also frequently engage with the media to highlight issues of public interest and concern.
Three of us have been previous Chairs of the former AIMS Ireland, and two of us previous Vice Chairs of the former AIMS Ireland
Four of us have been previous Secretaries of the former AIMS Ireland and five of us previous Treasurers of the former AIMS Ireland.
