Commentary:

1. First time mother assisted rate for this month: 27.5%

2. Birthed before mother assisted rate for this month: 3.3%

3. First time mother induction rate for this month: 42.5%

4. Birthed before induction rate for this month 35.59%

5. First time mother Caesarean section rate for this month: 35%

6. Birthed before Caesarean section rate for this month: 42.5%

7. The c section rate for multiparous women is very high (42.5%), and significantly higher than the figure of January 2025 (32.4%) but similar to that of August 2025 (44.82%). A high multiparous c section rate may be due to limited VBAC options. Note these data include the data from the MLU in Cavan.

   The combined assisted rate and c section rate for FTMs is also extremely high. The assisted delivery rate (27.5%), is significantly higher than the rate for January 2026 (18.75%). The induction rate of FTM dropped from 62.5% in January 2026 to 42.5% this month.
